Course Overview
The course on small field-of-view cone beam CT (cbCT) is a didactic and clinical hand’s on course that will introduce the participants to the principles of cbCT and its applications in dentistry. The course is designed to meet the educational requirements of the RCDSO Standard of Practice-Dental CT Scanners. The Standard of Practice can be viewed on the RCDSO web site, in the Professional Practice section. Certificates of completion will be provided to dentists who complete this course, including a satisfactory assessment of the knowledge they have gained.
The course content will include reviews of:
• the biological effects of ionizing radiation and radiation dosimetryn
• patient selection criteria and the radiographic examination
• review of normal anatomy in cbCT scans
• image interpretation of oral and maxillofacial pathoses including cases
• reporting of images
• medical legal issues and risk management
